- Despite search autocomplete suggestions being common, our UX benchmark also reveals that 27% of sites have an autocomplete implementation that has several and severe usability issues, so it overall performs poorly with end-users. During our usability studies on e-commerce search, we observed how poorly designed autocomplete user interfaces can confuse and distract users. Luckily, testing also identified 13 design patterns for autocomplete suggestions that ensure users a great and seamless autocomplete experience.
